Gosh that really descended into ad hominem.
Rufo automatically loses for promoting Intelligent Design, a movement in the 90’s that humiliated the USA and sparked the beginnings of anti-Americanism in Europe.
Yarvin mentions a lot that the enlightenment liberals were precursors to today’s liberalism, and it seems plausible to me since the is indeed a kind of intellectual tradition in the English-speaking world. Actual political philosophers like John Gray study this. I read one of his books in college. Even so, I did not feel greatly enlightened by it.
But Yarvin could simply throw out some quotes from these guys to show how liberal they really were. He doesn’t even do that. Why not? It should be easy for him to dig up some quotes to prove his point.
It strikes me as empty to blame the current globalism situation on ideas only, and not feelings. What of the feelings of white guilt? I am able to see how these feelings drive liberalism by merely watching the emotional displays of liberal people as they explain their positions. But we might also see evidence of the causative effect of guilt by just looking at the suspiciously high correlation of guilty colonial countries with mass immigration.
Eastern Europeans and Irish have absolutely no white guilt, and Italy has barely any (they take the blame for crusades, but it was so long ago). They all have democratic governments, patterned after the Western European enlightenment trends. These nations are almost totally fine being nationalistic, and generally don’t have mass immigration. Ireland has experimented in the past 10 years along with their low-corporate-tax plan to draw in investment and build national wealth. But the Irish people have made 300 protests against immigration in the last year. They are a nationalist people, and nothing will ever change that.
Britain, Holland, and France take in immigrants mostly from former colonies. Spain and Portugal allow Latin Americans to immigrate. Sweden and Germany recently took in many immigrants purely as refugees - it’s not the same kind of policy, it’s humanitarianism. This is all a style of reparations. This is guilt-driven. Sweden is the only possible outlier, choosing hyper-liberalism for the status it grants them.
The USA, Canada, and Australia take in immigrants due to some weird logic where we don’t have land rights so we just gotta let anybody from anywhere in the world take advantage of the land. Indigenous Americans are the racial group most opposed to immigration (should not surprise us). They want their land back. They don’t buy into our weird immigration logic.
Perhaps Yarvin knows that mass immigration is mostly guilt-driven, but the other liberal stuff is not. So perhaps his whole analysis of the lineage of liberal ideology is about the other stuff, and mass immigration is a backburner issue for him. I’m not sure…..he’s on record saying he doesn’t like population replacement, and he’s also on record saying that coed schools are foolish. What’s his real beef? Nobody knows.
I’m not sure if Yarvin is properly teasing out the causation. I’m not sure if blasting the enlightenment is necessary.
The last argument I’ll make. Let’s consider what drives new idea formation within the tradition of liberalism. Perhaps liberals update their ideology as they reckon with each new realization that they have done sin in some new way (erasure of minority identity, homophobia, etc.). Perhaps guilt drives the evolution of the liberal ideas themselves from the days of the nationalistic early enlightenment to today.
He’s right, too. One of the books he recommended was The True History of the American Revolution by Sidney George Fisher. I read part of that book and the liberals at that time acted like retarded antifa SJW’s.
Johan Huizinga is relevant here. All of these political movements are ‘games’ and thus they attract certain kinds of players with certain preferential play styles.
I have to disagree with your country-by-country analysis. All of these countries are driven by a general kind of white guilt.

Well he is a Jew so he doesn’t really care about immigration. He seems like a decadent trying to construct a meaning out of the deracinated nothing that is his life. The Jewish condition is to be miserable and cosmopolitan.
