I travelled to Vermont this week, and at a little cafe, I heard the song Peace Train.
Oh, I’ve been smilin’ lately
Dreamin’ about the world as one
And I believe it could be
Some day it’s going to come
It got me thinking….I’d like to compile a list of all major songs that promoted Globalism.
The rationale is that many liberals will make a dishonest counterargument when they are accused of globalism by nationalists. The counterargument usually goes something like, “We still believe in borders, we don’t allow infinity immigrants, there is a finite number of immigrants each year, and of course they will automagically assimilate and our country will be unchanged, and the world will be just as diverse in nations and cultures as it ever was.“
I think that a list of explicitly globalist songs is a wonderful way to crush that argument. It’s clear from liberal music-culture that they are pushing a kind of globalist eschatological vision.
The obvious, best candidate is of course John Lennon’s Imagine:
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace… You…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
