My gripe? Stated plainly, I’m worried it’s not fair.
We organize everything around us on the basis of evil, rather than the good. Evil has become so ontologically potent that it’s blinding.
Evil is Gotham. Unfathomably cruel, disorganized. Just a backdrop. A setting. No one questions whether Gotham exists. It just is, it’s the natural state.
We enjoy Gotham thanks to the drops of good within it. Batman, Gordon, etc. It redeems it in entirety. Sure, innocents die all the time, but it’s random. Societal. Ten people in all of Sodom, and it’s redeemed.
People tend to view evil as the natural state that good has to fight against, in effect, positing good as unnatural.
We’re not allowed a straight “good”. The a cappella group singing on the corner? Ulterior motives, surely. Any recognition of the fact they’re producing a plain-as-day good is an admission of the evil of self. Good, organized societies in media always have an evil as a basis. Evil societies just “are”, while good societies have to have some sort of secret evil as basis.
One drop of evil corrupts the entire society. The peaceful, scenic beach town? They cheated on their taxes in 1996. Irredeemable.
We view the entirety of good and evil on a basis of scale and organization.
You’re no longer allowed to have both good and organized. A random act of violence on a Chicago subway? Not their fault, simply a result of random social impulses on a wide scale, disorganization at large.
Organized small-town cop cheats on his wife? Definitive evil. He knew it, he was responsible. There is no larger system to melt the blame into.
One can be organized, or one can be good. It’s impossible to hold both belts. A random act of kindness for a stranger is revered, for a neighbor it’s reduced as necessary, and vice-versa.
A random act of violence towards an unwitting societal participant is expect collateral. Towards a neighbor? A detrimental, organized flaw.
We base our entire worldview on the intellectual Jew. The Jew a victim of organization. A specific sub group of victimization. They fear organization. Rightly so, any organization and they face death. So now, magnitudes removed, we’re not allowed to have any sort of semblance of organization. The trains ran on time in Auschwitz, no longer. It’s so far removed to the point of comedy. It wasn’t like that for most human suffering. Our fathers perished to disorganization. Dysentery, fatigue, broken supply line, a fearful bayonet jab. Theirs, to bureaucracy. Yet what’s feared, and what’s humanized? A clean room is hiding something. A dirty one is symptomatic of humanity.
