Like, people will just state (and, if questioned, mindlessly repeat with increasing indignity like a child having a tantrum) that ‘whore’ or ‘prostitute’ are evil meanie pejorative words when their negative connotation only exists because any word with their technical meaning would be negative in the mouths of self-respecting people. Likewise, Redditors have taken to randomly hall-monitoring people for using ‘female’ as a noun because of how they feel about it (that it reduces females to nothing but their gender) and treating that as subjective, and retardedly coercing others into agreeing by threatening to characterize them as muh massage-inists or say ‘quit playing dumb, we both know what you mean when you say that’ (read: I lack the maturity and/or mental capacity to comprehend that other people see the world differently than I do and will therefore treat others as liars whenever they have a distinct worldview from myself)
They also did this back in 2016 by going into convulsions whenever Trump referred to a group using the definite article followed by a plural (e.g. ‘the gays’, ‘the Muslims’, ‘the poopshitters’, etc)
Another thing is self-help people saying that you should say “I have depression” rather than “I am depressed”, because the latter supposedly synonymizes you with your depression. Only, to me, not directly applying the word ‘depression’ makes it seem like some external ‘accessory’ that you should be able to shrug off, and makes me feel worse for not being able to do so. And do you know why I think differently from them on the matter?
