I think that one of the most important takeaways from this article is the fact that New York basically rules the American society. Even institutions that are not based in New York, officially, actually are being run by New York elites.

The article lists a number of other organizations she runs. If you look them up, you will see, time and time again, that they are not in NY itself.

I think that a lot of downscale Americans overestimate their own performance and influence. They assume that it is not too big a deal if other groups take over New York or California, thinking, “well that’s just NY and NY is cruddy and there’s plenty of stuff going on where I live.”

The reality is different…the reality is that nothing is free of New York. Little-to-nothing in downscale USA exists on its own two feet. Everything originates in, is managed by, or owned by, New York. In light of this, everywhere else is basically irrelevant.
