this question always resonated with me deeply ever since i got really into politics and started carving my own way outside preescribed political notions.
we share ideas manly throught commonly understood terms, but, especially today such terms as “liberty”, “rights” etc dont mean anything or mean something totally different things as the left likes so much to apropriate and misuse them (youre a fascist etc). so the main focus on any war of ideas, or any political conflict is to imposed the real meaning of what we call ourselves, what we believe and what we go against, negating this privileage and not making clowns of what each believes.
of all the butchered terms “liberty” is the worse, meaning today basically “doing whatever i want”, and so on. true defenders of liberty and sacred ideals cant continue to defend liberty as its perceived, reapropriating and being true to ourselves and others will go the longest of ways in getting our message understood. that should be the front of any conversation, explaining really what you defend and oppose and saving your energy to other more fruitful engagements.
