A long time ago, I saw a Shoeonhead youtube video (yes she’s cringe and I’ve probably seen only 3 of her videos) where she made a joke of race-swapping anti-Jewish memes with anti-Irish memes. Basically, for every anti-Jewish argument, she made the same argument about Irish-Americans. I can’t find the video, now. I don’t think the topic was about Irish people, even. I think she just rapidly hit the idea and moved onto the main topic of the video.
She even had memes of “Scheming Jews“ replaced with scheming Irish people.
Indeed, there are many Irish-American CEO’s. Many of them vote Democrat. Many of them were into Communism for a long time. And so on. So, just as you can make a picture of 40 Jewish higher-ups in Hollywood, you can do the same for Irish people in various industries.
At the time, I thought it was an unserious attempt to make the anti-semitic argument look silly. Basically, I figured that Shoeonhead was saying, “Look, we can cherry-pick people from any race to make them look like the enemy. This cherry-picking is not the truth.. The real enemy is not a group of people, it is the ideas.“ I did not fully accept her argument. After all, we can see the percentages of Jewish people who vote Democrat, voraciously support immigration, etc. When the percentages are like over 70%, it’s not cherry-picking anymore. But the Shoeonhead video was still funny, whether or not it’s true.
I never thought much of Irish people growing up in the South. I had no concept of them. I don’t think other Southerners did either. Joe Rogan’s comedian friend, Mark Normand (ethnicity unknown but looks Jewish, currently atheist, supposedly grew up Catholic in New Orleans….), has claimed that Nashville is so backwards that people are ranting about the menace of the dirty Irish. I have had no experience of anybody being this serious about Irish-Americans in the South - either this is a Tennessee- specific thing, or Normand is just talking out of his ass.
I remember this one fat girl from Chicago moving to my city and school in Middle School, and when she introduced herself to the class, she loudly announced “My name is X and I”M IRISH!!!“ She perhaps was expecting a huge applause, but she was met with a bunch of confusion. The kids literally did not know what to think about an American white person calling themselves Irish. They did not know what they were expected to feel about Irishness at all. One girl, totally dazed and confused, embarrassingly asked the class, “Am I Irish???“
In the past year, I’ve revisited the anti-Irish argument more seriously. I think that a decent case can be made that Irish people have played a nearly identical role in the American and British society as Jews. Shoeonhead was actually right, though she did not know it.
Aside - I found this post on Amerika from Bret Stevens where he uses one of these “Scheming Irish” memes and digs up a historical example of Irish people stopping Oswald Mosely in London. Worth a look.
In the UK, the Irish citizens historically have voted for Labour, and more recently have shifted for other left-wing parties. Coincidentally, Labour has just recently planned to cut immigration levels. Perhaps Labour is following Kaufman’s advice to left-wing orthodoxies in the West to take the foot off the gas pedal on the immigration issue. Are the Irish leaving Labour because they are mad that Labour is reneging on its commitment to destroy the nations of Britain?
But the US case against the Irish goes far deeper than just votes. It’s trivial to note that Irish-Americans vote Democrat more than most or all other deep-heritage European groups (recent Euro immigrants such as Romanians and Russians vote Democrat at crazily-high levels but they shouldn’t count since they are still basically short-term immigrants themselves). The Hart-Cellar immigration act was a tag-team effort by the Irish Hart and the Jewish Cellar, and the famous spokesman was the Irish Ted Kennedy. Ted’s brother John F Kennedy wrote the famous book A Nation of Immigrants, which, perhaps more than anything else, popularized and normalized this meme of the USA being this omni-cultural immigrant-nation, which was an idea that few Protestant Americans of that time would have favored.
The main impetus for the support of multi-culturalism by the Irish is Catholicism. It’s just as Jews need multiculturalism to remain Jewish. Back before Vatican II, all Catholics were following a church that was fundamentalist to the point of banning marriages with Protestants. Thus, Catholic-Americans were a tribe that was effectively foreign to Protestant-Americans. And, the Protestant Americans deeply hated this. Like all nationalists, they hate factionalism in society, and favor unity. The Immigration moratorium in 1924 was largely motivated by a desire to clench the rapidly-growing Catholic minority. Everything I’m saying here is the same as E Michael Jones’ arguments. I don’t think his history of Catholic vs. Protestant vs. Jewish in the USA is false. I just am not sympathetic to his plan of getting Catholics to grow through Catholic endogamy and high birthrates until they overwhelm host societies and eventually pressure host societies to adopt their particular religious denomination. Because….I’m an atheist, not a Catholic fundamentalist. And I’m not going to cry crocodile tears that other Americans tried to break down factionalism in society, calling that “oppression.“ It’s the good thing for society - religious gridlock, natalist competition, and economic competition to dominate the future is a miserable way to do society.
We often hear that the Hart-Cellar immigration act was sold to the public as not altering the racial balance. The typical right-wing argument holds that this was a Jewish lie. I’d like to suggest that it was also a foolish assumption on the part of the Irish Kennedies. They probably assumed that opening immigration up again would resume the process that Protestant-Americans stopped in 1924 - the process of European Catholics taking over the USA numerically. They might have genuinely been shocked to see how many non-white and even non-Christian people would immigrate here.
Other resemblances with Jews are shocking. Irish-Americans are more high-achieving than other large Caucasian groups, and they have a preference for talking/negotiating jobs. As such, a great many CEO’s and high-powered lawyers and consultants in NYC are Irish. The most famous example is Brian Moynihan of Bank of America, who actually lives in Massachusetts himself, despite the headquarters of Bank of America being in Charlotte, North Carolina. He probably does not want his kids to grow up around Southerners. He uses a private jet to travel around, and he earns a bit of criticism for it all. But the Irish of Boston are particularly high-achieving, and he has his reasons for wanting to live among them.
And, like Jews, the Irish have a history of victimization, and the infinite pride and self-righteousness that comes along with a victim-identity. They are allowed to have national pride, unlike most other white groups. And they use that national pride flagrantly and derive an enormous amount of energy from it.
The main divergence of Irish from Jews is that, on the whole, the Irish nation is not so incredibly high-achieving and diasporic.
These days, with the Israel-Palestine conflict getting so much attention, we are seeing infinite comments from Irish people, bragging about how they’ve always been on Palestine’s side, how they have always opposed colonialism (rich! as if this is driven by a different moral framework, and not driven by self-interest!), and bragging about how they were colonized. They are receiving a ton of praise from the POC coalition and other morally-presentable people. Their 300+ protests against immigration in their own country are being hushed and hidden from the world. The world also is not aware that the IRA supported Hitler so much that Ireland barely managed to maintain neutrality in WW2 against the wishes of the IRA-supporting people to join Hitler’s cause (they just were on the “anybody-but-Britain“ side of everything). Evidently, it is permissible for them to oppose immigration, but not permissible for most other white countries.
So, like Jews, they have this killer deal where they can protect an ethnostate for their own people, while pushing immigrationism and all kinds of far-left stuff upon other white groups. Are they also trying to avenge themselves for being “oppressed“ (a.k.a. another mixed-out Celtic group tried to unify and end the unproductive divisions of the British Isles, which Ireland refused because of their obsession with Catholicism and, to a lesser extent, their belief that they alone were real Celtics, which is itself a myth - they are a pitiful 5% Celtic and the English are a hilarious 15% Celtic.).
