I’ve been thinking a lot about Ted Kaczynski’s analysis of leftist self-hatred. He argued that leftists use client groups as a proxy for their resentment.

Obviously, leftists are dysgenic mifits, and they really hate normative society. Issues like racism / feminism / socialism can be used to attack that society.

It occurs to me that leftists almost never demand justice for their own personal experiences. They were most certainly bullied in school, because they are always calling their political enemies “weird,” or “incels,” “basement dwellers,” etc.

Leftists can’t talk about their own oppression because it would reveal them to be bitter antinormative losers. They hate anything good and successful.

I also notice that they talk about their life / politics in a manner similar to a therapy session. It’s very vague, platitudinous discussion. It reminds me of when I got out of the mental hospital and had to take a 6-week DBT course. They gave us stuff like this graph, and they would drone on and on about it without saying anything of substance.

This is basically DBT, the rational-emotional-wise. maybe you could say DBT is just this.

It’s an inferior conceptualisation however of the Many Parts within us, as Jung expressed, and Nietzsche - every emotional state has its own desire. But for the leftists, this type of safe, watering down of the subject is just fine.

I think leftists are very socially aware. The old view of leftists as the nerds and the rightists as the jocks is gone - it’s like in 21 Jump Street with Jonah hill, they go to high school and all the kids they thought were going to be nerds are actually the cool ones selling drugs. That’s what they are, social animals, desperately seeking to be accepted by the crowd.

There are several issues you’re addressing with leftist behavior that need to be teased apart. But as mondray said I think their primary driver is status. Their antinormativity has its origins in Christianity, which first presented rebellion against nature and innate morality as “high status” and “cool.” Basically making it cool and even “intellectual” to be retarded and counter-intuitive. Leftists are still doing that to this day. In that sense, no matter how much status or power they have, they’re still Punk. They’ll always be rebellious because they rebel against eternal truth itself.
Generally I think they’re just stupid people who want to be popular and powerful.

I am of the opinion that all political groups are bloated at the moment because:

The juice have DESTROYED all sense of community in the west.

So youngsters join weird politcial cults to fill the void.

The youth are confused at the disconnect of society and that confusion turns to hatred.

Bring back sense of community and the political groups will start to deflate.

You will see less brain dead, spergy, loud, annoying, retarded, gay cultists.

Worth noting too that cults often proliferate generally in times of crisis when old ways of understanding the world no longer seem to have explanatory power. The fact that ‘leftism’ is pre-approved by the elite classes (and has been for over a century) makes it a cosy harbor indeed for disillusioned young yearners. They get to play pretend as the scrappy rebels against the evil empire while also benefitting the system generally (cf The System’s Neatest Trick ). They become the vanguard of the Nothing they falsely believe they are opposing. This history goes back at least to the liberal revolutions of the 18th century and belie the real, etic purpose of leftism: unshackling the powers of production and the full might of the dead organic-machinery of Human Society over the living human being. They are warriors of death and the undead, it is no wonder they are ‘anti normative’, would you ever expect anything else from a Zombie?

I’m familiar with Kaczynski’s argument, but I don’t think it’s true. And I think that he doesn’t understand the technological system. He seems to be exaggerating the features of this system and how it perpetuates itself.

What we’re really talking about is Zipf’s Principle of Least Effort. All human decisions are highly economical. When we use tools, we’re trying to reduce the total average amount of work. That’s the “Technological Industrial System” in a nutshell. People try to improve processes to save effort.

This principle does not say that we can infinitely increase the complexity of society, or that we’ll conquer the galaxy, or that production will be full automated. We could run out of things to invent tomorrow, and we would still be looking for ways to save effort.

Furthermore, Terminator History is impossible simply because systems become exponentially more prone to failure as complexity increases.

Now, when leftists have their way, sometimes they provide capitalists with opportunities. But other times, they cripple and hault production – as we saw in the Soviet Union. Generally, they make it harder for civilization to categorize people and put them into more productive avenues. For instance, they sabotaged the eugenics movement, which would have been many times more productive for the economy. It would have risen the third world out of poverty.

In my view, leftists are actually Ted’s movement. Leftism is a tendency towards tribal communalism. And that’s why they do things like collect novelty goods (hunter-gatherer behavior), why the women don’t shave their armpits, and why they glorify third places, vintage, walkable cities, and traditional urban planning.

What happened there was the abolition of old quasi-feudal social arrangements for the express purpose of speed running industrialization. This is both the real meaning of leftism (this was also largely the result seen in the 18th c. liberal revolutions) and its only real material legacy (staleness, classlessness or finding the beach beneath the paving stoned certainly wasn’t). That Russians failed (as they are wont to do) by instituting their own suffocating, ideological sclerotic system is neither here nor there. The Chinese did much better by following pragmatism to what was the real eventual goal all along, that venerable and most ancient of civilizational structures: Oriental Despotism.

Yes I am sure we are all familiar with Tainter and Greer et al. And I do indeed find their position more compelling than the notion that we are going to technoaccelerate into cyberpunk 2020 or whatever else. Really I think Ted would have done well to have been born later where it is now much more clear that cracks and fissures are everywhere inevitable.

As far as eugenics goes, it is an unprovable claim that a state-instituted program of such would have been an unmitigated boon to production. That entails a huge and invasive bureaucracy (an added layer of complexity) which may or may not have been worth it. That said, eugenics was a Progressive position in its early days later folded into National Socialist racial ideology. One might even say that eugenics never left us and remained on the Progressive side, just in a democratized form through Planned Parenthood

The idea that leftism as a whole is crypto-Luddism I find amusingly contrary to the main thrust of the results left-wing regimes have had on recent history. There are of course hippie stragglers within that milieu (as there are on was passes as the right) but the majority of them will reliably line up at the beck and call of party officials, experts, The Science. I am old enough to remember when questioning the incentive structure of the pharmaceutical industry was a vaguely leftwing position, roughly back in 2019 and before.

It is amusing, and it’s because they imagine that they are some kind of futuristic movement.

When our material needs are satisfied, we economize towards our true desires. Our true desires come from evolution: it’s living in a small community, and overcoming obstacles together. (If you’ve ever spent a month at Boy Scout camp, you slowly develop a euphoric camaraderie. That’s what humans really want).

This explains why leftism is associated with affluence. Leftists fundamentally assume that civilization “can spare” the luxury of the commune onto the whole of society. But civilization is fundamentally a system of exploitation: it’s the man with the spear telling everyone what to do. So both systems are incompatible: one swallows the other, or in rare cases there is a temporary compromise.

So progress can only go in the direction of the commune. But progress destroys the commune and cannot deliver a new one.

In reality, modernization is simply a cataclysmic transition from one set of routines to another. We will eventually run out of ways to shake up this planet. After that, we evolve into the new material conditions until they feel natural to us.

So to summarize, modernization is the process of humans adapting to civilization, defined as fixed hierarchical control.

If I can add anything, I think the distinction between Natural Selection and Artificial Selection is important to define, because they are often confused.

What we’re seeing in the modern world is a society predicated on Artificial Selection pressures, or Internal Selection pressure. Having overcome our natural predators, diseases, food shortages, water purification, etc. All that remains to keep our population in check is our own internal consideration in regards to what we deem our Ideal survival, and it goes without saying, this is almost always flawed. Because what traits and individuals are rewarded and more likely to reproduce aren’t actually the most healthy, intelligent, or otherwise fit, but rather those who are more accepting of the demands of the industrial world, and who embody them with the least amount of protest.

Though this trend is more pronounced in Leftist thinking than Right-Wing thinking, both groups still orient themselves around these Artificial, Sociological, or otherwise Marxist notions of class struggle, but in Leftists this behavior is more conscious, whereas the modern Right-Wing does the same thing whilst also claiming to oppose Marxist thought.

Genetically people become more gradually enslaved to industrial medicine because those who cannot survive without medical intervention are left alive to proliferate their defunct genes.
Gradually the notion of ethnicity and ancestry is eradicated, meaning the only form of Identity left to people is that constructed by modern corporations.
And socially the behavior of Leftists takes center stage, because it is technically the only thing they can do to optimize their immediate survival as an organism.

As such, they are existentially incapable of accepting any of these facts, or revolting against these systems. This becomes all they know, and since they cannot survive without it, they will suffer no criticism for the way things are, lest it force them to confront a most unpleasant reality.

The truth, between these two options (especially corroborated by excellent sources like Weston A. Price), is to try and construct a world in which our Artificial Selections more accurately reflect Natural Realities. Course the last time this was tried, it shook up the status quo to such an extent that they’ve spent the last 80 years trying to convince us how evil and immoral they were for daring to even attempt such a thing.

Only solution is to try and practice these principles in our personal lives, and slowly form private enclaves with people who share our values in this regard.
