Why the right doesn't win.

Funny you bring up Aarvoll actually, because he was in this very group and participated in some of our meetings. I also noticed his tendency to use obfuscation as a rhetorical tactic, the difference is that Aarvoll is actually pretty smart despite his other flaws and knew how to use these tricks. You don’t.

I agree.

I’m not going to get into my understanding of why ‘the right doesn’t win’ because it is probably too much of a side track and too much of a bummer, but I do not think that anything good will come from propaganda, rabble-rousing, mass movements etc. Very, very funny and kino things might occur (see Germany ~1930-1945) but nothing endurable or very good. The masses, the indulgence given them and the necessary shepherding of their aimless thoughts is a great share of the problem, really.

The only way I could actually see that route working would be to some how engineer a path parallel to that taken by the Chinese in the 20th-21st century, which now, under the banner of Marx and Lenin has a system which is probably of all systems the most isomorphic with the great ‘right wing’ ideologies of the 20th c. They tried actual socialism, ran their populace through a great sieve, floundered, turned in desperation to pragmatism and somehow arrived at a formally authoritarian social structure which allows for markets and enterprise so long as it is consonant with the will of the sovereign. They reinvented the oldest of state systems. They still use the old pinko flavor text and even believe it too, I imagine, but the actual, etic reality is much more interesting.

Interesting idea regarding the Chinese. It will be sad day when the west becomes as cynical as them however, and I honestly doubt that will ever happen as the Chinese have a very different relationship to the truth than we do. Performative, face-saving acts are a big part of their culture, and ideological consistency is of little value to them, so they can have their red book and their Mao portraits and ignore their actual meaning. Europeans think very differently in this regard and will simply refuse to go along with such performances imo, not because the average normie is just that intellectually honest or anything, but because performative behavior is just too exhausting for the European mind. Though perhaps I’m just being optimistic.

Yes, unfortunately we live in a democracy so escaping the masses and their fickle feelings is pretty much impossible for now.

Right. So how did we get here? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Why did Cain kill Abel?

It obviously can’t be the root, because you must threaten to change someone’s life. Change it to what? A political goal must be conceived first.

How?

Who came up with it, and who threatened their way of life to the point where they develop a new political idea?

Unless you’re insinuating some sort of political abiogenesis.

No one’s stopping me. That’s the point. It doesn’t even do much. You could donate a thousand dollars to a campaign and it would be near meaningless. Yet at the same time it does infinitely more than dispersing USBs filled with random chimpouts into liberal city streets.

Thinking in terms of effective action. What works? What is my end and what are my means?

Perhaps I’m mentally retarded but I don’t understand the point you’re making at all. You gave an anecdote like it was diagnostic. I labeled my example as just anecdotal plain. This is what happened to me, this is what has happened to those around me. Nobody I know who is radical got there via USB. You don’t have to believe me, that doesn’t make it less true.

You say the right is losing, which implies the left is winning. Why don’t you look at their strategy instead of making up one on your own.

The left wins by capturing positions in media, infrastructure, education, etc. They successfully counter-protest in-force. They demand what they want over and over until their goal is achieved. They stalk and harass and whittle down their opponents until nothing is left.

They didn’t get there by slapping up posters or larp-marching in DC with American flag shields. They rubbed shoulders, using fraternity to get an ear. Where they couldn’t, they snagged as much power as possible and used it immediately on their enemies, even if benign.

Apply that lens to anything you do. What are they doing? What works? Do you think if you picked up a USB full of Marxist writings and videos of cops beating people or shareholders of an insurance company laughing at making money off death, your mind would have changed?

Sorry, but I really don’t know what point you’re trying to make in this paragraph.

Then go ahead and open up your wallet right now then and donate! What are we even talking about here?

I don’t remember giving any anecdotes :man_shrugging:

I shouldn’t make up my own strategies? Ok. Are you going to explain why you think this? No?

Great, why don’t you go ahead and capture the media and institutions then. I assume you already have a plan on how to do this right? Don’t be shy, share it with us!

Indeed they do, what’s you point exactly? I have read most of your post now and I there is still not a single coherent argument in sight. You sound a lot like LostSaxon in the way you just love to pile on the word salad in hopes that nobody notices that you haven’t actually said anything yet.

I am confused here, what exactly is the difference between this^ and thisV

please enlighten be, and be specific with the definitions because I have no idea what you’re talking about. Also when did I ever suggest marching in DC, how is this related at all?

Again, why don’t you go ahead and get to your point? You think my strategy is a bad idea? Go ahead and explain why. Be specific. Try and actually think your thoughts through and construct a consistent logical argument before you put it in writing so we don’t have to keep doing this same dance over and over again.

Are you and LostSaxon buddies or something? You both and have an astounding ability to construct word salad posts without saying anything at all.

I can already predict your next post; it will be essay length again, you will ignore everything I responded to you with previously, and instead go on entirely new unrelated tangents.

The connection I think you are trying to make here is that at the time information was way more censored, so the strategy barelysentient is providing would not have been a good substitute.

They all thought it was a “What is the best strategy” post when you were trying to discuss the lack of motivation, the lack of action and the delusional paranoia that comes with thinking yourself the #1 problem for the system.

I hope you want to communicate better with these people, because it sucks that a decent thread and some tone issues turned into nearly 50 long dramatic posts. No cause is going to be served by this dynamic playing out again.

My advice for you is to emphasize the point you want to discuss in the OP. Briar Fray tends toward rather loose and informal discussion, if you don’t want that try to head it off by explicitly stating what you want the thread to focus on. I think a lot of people use the title as the main cue for what is relevant to the thread. They think they can post anything that is bad about right-wing strategy because you titled it “Why the right doesn’t win.”

My advice for anyone interacting with your threads in the future: make a new thread for anything that isn’t clearly on-topic. Evergreen likes to focus on one topic in one thread.

Thanks for the good faith reply. My issue is with just two posters, and it’s not a problem of miscommunication, the problem is when certain posters are not at all interested in understanding what I am getting across, no amount of clarifying my point would make a difference here. It’s not an question of going off topic either, rather when someone who is pretending to respond to you is instead bringing up completely unrelated matters to prolong the argument and muddy the waters. Rhetorical games are easy to play, that’s why some people fall back on them so quickly.

LostSaxon in particular is not speaking in good faith here, and he knows you’re not not going to be closely parsing our pointless argument post by post to figure out who’s right and who’s wrong, because why would anyone? Most of it is nonsense, and that’s exactly why you don’t see the stupid games he’s playing. I also have no doubt that he doesn’t even think he’s doing anything wrong, vain psychoanalyzing and vapid moral grandstanding is probably a regular part of how he talks to people. Standard narcissistic behavior. He’s not on this forum to talk to anybody, he’s here to pat himself on the back, he just happened to run into the one person who wasn’t going to let him do it.

Also as I mentioned I know Aarvoll from nearly a decade ago, and while I don’t have anything against the guy personally (we spoke a few times and he was good to me), I am unfortunately not surprised by the fan club he has chosen to develop for himself. LostSaxon wishes he was half as smart as Aarvoll and thinks he can imitate him. It didn’t work.

Speaking of reasons the right doesn’t win, it’s shocking to me how quickly a couple of posters came over to exhibit precisely the point I was trying to make. I couldn’t ask for better exemplars.

???

Yes?

Be nice.

Everyone be nice, this is an intellectual space.
